Mariam Foundation participated in three committees with our ambassador and cancer survivor, MK Eman Khatib, in order to present the foundation’s projects and possible paths for developing them for the benefit of cancer patients around the country, projects that keep supporting cancer patients for years.
Labor, Welfare and Health committee: The foundation presented the importance of securing cancer treatments and medication which are not covered by healthcare insurances, done by Mariam Fund project. The project has funded medication for thousands of patients in the past years, giving them the chance to continue and win their battle against cancer.
Children Rights Committee – The foundation presented the importance of supporting children cancer patients during their battle against cancer, which is done by Mariam Joy project – The foundation offers daily companions for children cancer patients in hospitals and homes, helping them cope with their situation and battle cancer. Also, the foundation will present its work in raising awareness for cancer in school and among youth as a part of Mariam Day project, in which the foundation has reached thousands of schools across the country to bring the youth the much needed awareness for cancer.
Status of Women and Gender Equality committee – The foundation presented the importance of reaching as much women as possible in regards to breast cancer, as a part of its annual project – Pink October, which has, over the years, reached thousands of women across the country and has succeeded in raising awareness for breast cancer and change the public’s approach for cancer, for early detection of breast cancer saves lives.In few years, Mariam Foundation has succeeded to revolutionize raising awareness for cancer in society, despite the lack of resources and support. Therefore, Mariam Foundation is present in every hallway to get the most effective tools to continue fight cancer and offer cancer patients the best possible support.
