Today, Mariam Foundation supports cancer patients in a wide variety of ways: Covering medical bills, financial assistance for disadvantaged cancer patients families, daily companions for children cancer patients in hospitals, emotional support by social workers and more. However, Mariam Foundation has a broader view and a wider vision, as cancer is not won only by medicine. That’s why we are initiating the Mariam Home, the first emotional healing center for cancer patients.
Mariam Home offer patients and their family a rehabilitating experience: Every patient admitted to Mariam Home gets a detailed work plan by the home’s social workers, building for him a complete program for his emotional rehabilitation. Social worker services, occupational therapy, music therapy, yoga sessions, gaming rooms, support groups and more Enhancing cancer patients’ quality of life and shifting their thoughts from negative thoughts to positive ones.
For now, the first branch of Mariam Home is under renovation, and is getting ready to open its doors to patients very soon. Our vision over the years is to have multiple homes as such around the country, serving cancer patients no matter where they are so we can reach as much cancer patients as possible and give them the emotional and mental support needed to overcome cancer.
Running this type of facility will cost around $180,000 a year, with renovation expenses estimated around $60,000. All the services that will be given in Mariam Home to cancer patients are free of charge. Health Maintenance Organizations are offering their support and are willing to be involved in many services given in Mariam Home, and the foundation is constantly working on raising funds and donations to be able to sustain this project for the long run.
